962,798. Rollerways. CYRIL ASTOR PHOTOMATON (LONDON) Ltd. March 2, 1962 [Dec. 16, 1960], No. 43458/60. Heading B8A. [Also in Division G2] Film is conveyed through a processing tank by a plurality of vertically-spaced sets of rollers, each set being individually geared to a vertically disposed common driving spindle. In the form shown, the conveyer unit is built up on two vertical side-plates such as 12, bolted together through spacer members 15, 16, 17. Three sets of three rollers each, 20, 21, 22, are shown. Each set of rollers is inter-connected by gear-wheels to a bevel gear 28, and each bevel gear 28 (one for each set of rollers) engages with another bevel gear 30 on a common shaft 31. At the lower end of this shaft is a propeller (not shown) for agitating the processing liquid, and at the upper end is a further bevel gear 33, which engages with a similar gear (not shown) on a main drive-shaft. The rollers, gears, and most of the structural parts of the unit apart from shafts and bolts may be made of a synthetic material such as polystyrene or nylon. Specification 693,644 is referred to.
