962,790. Building panels; curtain walls. STEWART & GRAY Ltd. May 16, 1963, No. 19498/63. Headings E1B and E1V. A fire-resistant building panel 12 comprises an outer steel cladding 24 containing an asbestos board 18 and heat insulating material 22 backed by a further asbestos board 20. P.V.C. tape 38 around the edges of the panel and an intermediate layer of aluminium foil 36 prevent moisture deteriorating the insulating material 22 which is of uncompacted mineral fibre wool, or other fibrous, granular, or foamed material. The panel is attached to the wall of a building by bolts 30 which pass through the asbestos board 20 and are held by channel sectioned members 32 extending between the flanges 26 of the steel cladding.
