Abstract

961,737. Gas burners. KEITH BLACKMAN Ltd., E. E. TAVENER, and E. J. MARTIN. June 4, 1963 [April 5, 1962], No. 13150/62. Heading F4T. A gas burner comprises a control disc 15, movable in its own plane within a circular opening 14 in a member 12, and controlling the flow of gas to each of three distributing tubes 7, 8, 9, supported by partitions (not shown), within a barrel 1 having an elongated burner slot. The tubes 7, 8, 9 are of differing lengths and diameters and have outlets at intervals along their length, and their entrances are separated by partitions 13 on the member 12. The control disc 15 has a bored hub 17 around which is a spring 26 urging the disc 15 against the partitions 13. The spring 26 also urges an operating disc 25 movable in its own plane in a recess 24 of a headpiece 20 against the inner surface of the end wall 22 thereof. The operating disc 25 has a central spigot 27 with a part spherical end projecting into the bore of the hub 17 of the control disc 15, and a bored hub 28 projecting through an aperture 23 in the head piece 20. An indicator disc 29 mounted on the hub 28 is urged against the outer surface of the end wall 22 by a spring 30 which surrounds the hub 28 and which is retained by a nut 31. The control disc 15 is adjusted by a tool, Fig. 4 (not shown), which has an internal lip which can be hooked into a peripheral recess 32, on the headpiece 20, and held thereon by means of a hand grip. The inner end of a hand lever universally mounted on the tool engages the bore of the hub 28 of the operating disc 25. The headpiece 20 has an inlet branch 21 for combustible mixture. The areas of the inlets of the tubes may be proportional to the tube resistance.
