An article of furniture convertible for use as a bed or chair comprises a main frame having a pair of tubular members 10 mounted on a support, a supplemental frame having a pair of tubular rods 14 slidable telescopically in the members 10, a cushion unit 13 fixed to the outer end of the main frame, a cushion unit 16 hinged at 17 to the supplemental frame, a pair of cushion units 21, 23 hinged at 24, 20 to the cushion units 13, 16 respectively and a hinge 22 connecting the cushion units 21, 23, the parts being retained in the chair position (Fig. 1), with the cushion units 21, 23 assuming an inverted V position, by means of pins 25 which depend from the cushion unit 16 and engage in registering holes 26, 27 in the members 14, 10 respectively. The telescoping movement of the members 10, 14 is facilitated by nylon spacer members 10a, 14a (Fig. 6) connected to the members 10, 14 respectively.
