960,095. Encapsulating electrical components. DUBILIER CONDENSER CO. (1925) Ltd. June 29, 1960 [July 3, 1959; March 18, 1960], Nos. 9598/60 and 9606/60. Divided out of 960,094. Heading B5A. [Also in Division H1] A chain of encapsulated electrical components such as capacitors or resistors is formed by moulding encapsulating insulation around the components and simultaneously connecting the encapsulation of each component with that of an adjacent component by a thin web of insulating material which may be preformed. Several capacitors are placed on supports of the type described in Specification 960,094 and each assembly is located in the cavity A 1 in the lower half of mould A; the terminals projecting through passages A 4 . With the upper mould half in position, nylon is injected to encapsulate the capacitors and join the encapsulations by webs formed in the recesses A 3 . Alternatively the supports may be joined by webs of material before insertion in the mould, Fig. 6 (not shown). Capacitors having a central hole may be located in the mould of Fig. 10 by projections A 5 one of which is spring loaded. In the embodiment of Fig. 11 each capacitor is encapsulated in mould D and is connected to adjacent capacitors by a flexible insulating strip E which is moved with the capacitors through the mould. Two short chains of capacitors may be united according to the invention and the supporting and moulding material may alternatively be polythene or polypropylene.
