Abstract

959,220. Rolling. HILLE ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Oct. 15, 1962 [Oct. 13, 1961], No. 36875/61. Heading B3M. A workguide for a rolling mill employs opposed guide rollers 20 and 21 which are adjustably mounted one in each of a pair of jaws 10 and 11 which are hingedly connected together and spring loaded towards each other to resiliently position the rollers. In the hingedly connected jaws 10 and 11 of the guide are clamped carrier members 17 and 18 to which are dovetailed half members 14 of a longitudinal guide 19, the carrier members supporting the horizontal rollers 20 and 21. The half members are adjusted by altering the portions of slotted wedges 32 by means of threaded bolts 33, bolts 36 first having been loosened. Lugs 14 of the jaws 10 and 11 are held together by a spring-loaded bolt 44, the head 45 of the bolt bearing on lugs 15 of one jaw while cams connected to a sleeve 40 bear against the lugs 16 of the other jaw. After closing the jaws, rotation of cams mounted on a spindle 47 causes the head 45 and sleeve 40 to be urged towards each other by a spring 41, thereby holding the jaws firmly together. Adjustable nose pieces 37 are provided at the ends of the carrier members 17 and 18.
