Abstract

A stripping device for a stamping-out press includes a resilient flexible sheet 19, projecting over part at least of a female die aperture 18 and a blank-gripping device 16 which are arranged to lie in abutment with opposite faces of a blank 12a during stripping to hold part of the blank and to allow the cut-out 12 to be stripped and fall into a receptacle. The co-operating male die 10, together with the flat spring 16 and an auxiliary die 11, are attached to a first cross-bar 14 which is attached to a chase 15. The blank 12a is previously pressed and cut as at 21 around its periphery except for small uncut bridges, and then applied in position on the female die 17, so that the spring 16 abuts its face, pressing it on to the flexible sheet.. Movement of the die 10 severs the uncut bridges 22 in the previously partly severed cut-out until the overlying parts of the sheet 19 have been deflected into the hole 18 sufficiently for the severed shape 12 to fall through the hole, the waste part which may be either the cut-out or the remainder of the blank is then carried away and the cycle repeated.
