A truck for an underfloor towing-chain conveyer has a bumper 3, extending the width of the truck, so mounted that when moved rearwardly either bodily or from one or other end it actuates a safety means. In the arrangement shown in Figs. 1 and 3 the bumper 3 is mounted on a truck part 2 by rounded projections 17, 18 and when displaced rearwardly moves the towing pin 1 upwardly, through a bell-crank 19, out of driving engagement with an underfloor towing-chain. The towing pin 1 is guided at its lower end in a rubber bush 8 and can be held in the inoperative position by rotation when a handle 12 rests on a bracket 13. In a modification shown in Fig. 5 the bumper 3<SP>1</SP> is biased to the forward position by a spring 39 and the towing pin 1<SP>1</SP> is held in the operative position by an apertured plate 30 engaging a recess 27a.
