Abstract
1,127,516. Reversible steering member. IDEAL TOY CORP. 9 May, 1967 [13 July, 1966], No. 21478/67. Heading A6S. A toy vehicle is adaptable to operate either on a track having a guide groove or on a surface without guide groove and includes a chassis and a pair of front wheels mounted thereon with a tie member connecting the wheels in order to provide movement in unison. A steering member is mountable in either of two positions; in the first position it steers the vehicle by engaging the guide groove and in the second position it holds the wheels in a fixed position for movement over a surface without a guide groove. The steering member 16 may clip onto the tie member 34 with the guide pin 40 depending into a guide groove. Alternatively the member 16 may be clipped onto the tie member with the pin 40 in an upright position. The projection 36 will be then engaged between two of the detents 54, thus holding the tie member and wheels 22, 24 in a fixed position relative to the chassis 18. Depending upon which of the detents engage the projection 36, the vehicle may follow either a straight or a curved path on a surface.
