Abstract

958,015. Control of motors. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. Jan. 28, 1963, No. 3432/63. Heading H2J. [Also in Division B8] In a control system for electric motor-driven mine winders &c. in which regular pulses generated during movement of the conveyance are used to control the motor driving and braking arrangements for arresting the conveyance, means are provided for starting the pulse-count after the termination of the acceleration period during which the pulses may be irregular. In the example in which magnetic, electrical or optical pulse generators 4a, 4b are synchronized with the winder pulley motor 2, separate pulse counters 5, 6 are coupled to the generators 4a, 4b, through a starting device S having a switch located in the mine shaft at a given distance from the bottom and actuated by the conveyance to start the pulse count. Output from the counter 6 is fed to a device 11 controlling the motor 2 and brake 3. The pulse generators 4a, 4b are of different types to avoid the possibility of a common fault. Devices 7, 8 indicating the total pulse counts are coupled to a comparator 9 which detects differences between the counts and may operate an alarm 10 or emergency stop device 12.
