Abstract
957,207. Aerials. MARCONI CO. Ltd. Sept. 26, 1961 [March 3, 1961], No. 7817/61. Heading F4A. To produce broad band impedance matching in a horn radiator of rectangular cross-section giving circularly or elliptically polarised waves at least one corner plate is provided in or substantially in the plane of the horn aperture (Fig. 1) or throat (Fig. 3, not shown). Preferably four such plates 5-8 are provided. The plates which are more commonly of metal than of a dielectric material have a thickness which is small in comparison with the wavelength of the radiator wave. The free edge of the plate may be curved or polygonally shaped. The plates may be slightly curved and they may be inclined at a small angle to a plane perpendicular to the horn axis, Fig. 2 (not shown).
