Abstract

Iron having in the as-cast condition a substantially pearlitic structure (not more than 5% of ferrite) is free or substantially free from carbide-stabilizin elements other than any used to induce the formation of spheroidal graphite and contains 2-3% by weight of nickel. The nickel may be wholly or partially replaced by copper and/or tin in such amounts that Ni+2.5 Cu+66.7 Sn\sF2 Ni+1.5 Cu+30 Sn\sE3. Permissible maxima for carbide-forming elements are .Cr.0.05% .V.0.05% .W.0.01% .Mo.0.01% .Mn.0.1%
