955,834. Lamp posts. R. L. MOORE, and A. E. WALKER. Dec. 14, 1961 [Dec. 14, 1960], No. 43007/60. Heading E1B. A lamp post which tapers towards its lower end is supported on a base plate 8 and is held by three tensioned stays 5. The post may taper in the one direction only or, as shown, comprises two hollow parts 1, 2 of galvanised steel, fibreglass, or aluminium. The base plate 8 is formed with radial arms of channel formation and the three stays are tensioned either by nuts under the arms of the base plate, or by standard coupling bones at the middle of the stay wires. The post is designed to fracture and fall under the impact of a colliding vehicle and is arranged with its control gear in the concrete foundation 9 releasably connected to the lighting cable inside the post.
