Abstract

882,577. Walls. STANDISH-WH1TE, D. W. May 12, 1960, No. 16776/60. Class 20(4) A wall construction comprises apertured concrete blocks arranged so that the apertures 4 form continuous vertical wells in the wall in which wires or straps 5 are stretched under tension between the foundations and the top of the wall. The wires or straps may be looped through eyes 2 secured to the foundations and accessible through apertures 6 in the blocks. At the upper ends the wires pass through a capping 7 and are secured, by means of collars, screws or split collets. The capping 7 may act as an anchorage for the roof. Lintels 10 may be formed with apertures in their ends which align with vertical wells in the wall.
