Abstract

955,204. Bed-rests. HOSKINS & SEWELL Ltd. April 1, 1963 [April 2, 1962], No. 12528/62. Heading A4J. A backrest for use with bedsteads comprises in combination a first frame 1 adapted to be attached at one end to a member 4 forming part of the head of a bedstead, a pair of pads 6 mounted on the end of the frame on spaced extensions 5, the pads serving to support the frame on the bedding and being shaped to serve as arm rests, and a second frame 8 adjustably mounted on the first frame and provided with resilient webbing straps 10 to serve as a back support. The first frame consists of tubular members 1 telescopically mounted on the extension 5. The members 1 have at their upper ends a pair of tongues 15 adapted to engage slotted members 16 secured to the member 4. In a modification, Fig. 2, (not shown) the members 1 have a pair of socket clamps to engage the member 4. The frame 8 may be clamped to the frame 1 in an angularly adjusted position by means of a screw threaded bar 13 which passes through a bar 9 and circular plates 11 formed on the frame 8, through fibre washers 12 and through brackets 7 formed on the extensions 5, screw threaded lock nuts 14 being provided.
