Abstract

954,701. Injection-moulding machines. R. HANNING. Sept. 21, 1960, No. 32471/60. Heading B5A. An injection moulding machine having a mould support plate 3 rapidly movable by long stroke hydraulic means 10 comprises a short stroke pressure member 2 which provides the final mould clamping pressure and a pivoted support body 1 transferring pressure from member 2 to plate 3. Plate 3 is raised on pillars 6 by hydraulic means 10 to close the mould halves 7, 8. Support 1 is then swung inwardly and positioned between plate 3 and the hydraulic piston means 2 which is actuated to move upwardly the short distance necessary to close gaps 4, 5 and move support 1 upwardly, guided by pillars 6, to apply the mould clamping pressure. The support 1 may be extensible, Fig. 4 (not shown), and the hydraulic means 10 may be replaced by motor-driven capstans, Fig. 2 (not shown).
