Abstract
954,403. Atomizing fusible materials. PRVNI BRNENSKA STOJIRNA, ZAVODY KLEMENTA GOTTWALDA NARODNI PODNIK. Dec. 14, 1961, No. 44936/61. Heading B2F. A molten inorganic salts atomizer, for atomizing meted inorganic salts by a gaseous medium which is fed under pressure on to the falling melt flow, comprises a vertically downwardly directed nozzle A having its inner surface lined with a graphite layer 1 for feeding the melt and an annular chamber 7 surrounding the nozzle for feeding the gas, the said chamber having a conical guiding surface 8 inclined at an angle of 20-60 degrees to the vertical axis of the nozzle and the lower edge of which is at a greater distance from the vertical axis than the inner lower edge of the nozzle. The nozzle has an outer insulating layer 3 within which is supported an electric heating coil 2. Gaseous medium is fed under pressure through pipes 6 into chamber 7 through an annular aperture 11 on to the melt flow at an angle fixed by the sloping surface 8 of the segment 4. Instead of a coil the graphite layer may be connected directly to an electricity supply so that it is heated by virtue of its inherent electrical resistance.
