954,314. Pigsties. H. NIELSEN, and H. BIEHL. Aug. 14, 1961 [Aug. 16, 1960], No. 29231/61. Heading E1A. A pigsty consists of a plurality of boxes 1-5 arranged along at least one side of a feed passage 6 each separated and defined by heat insulating panel walls 8 extending from floor to ceiling and each box being provided with adjustable draught excluding venting means. The boxes 1-5 while of equal width increase progressively in length and thus size. Each box has a lying place 12 sloping towards a centre line 14 and a dung place 13 which in turn slopes towards a channel 15 communicating with a dirt passage 16 covered by planks 21. Feeding troughs 7 extend along the feed passage 6 and are closed in both end positions by a slide valve 17. A sprinkler pipe 26 provides watering means while a pipe 25 can be used for rinsing the sty. Access to the sty box is through external doors in the form of half doors giving access to the dung place. Windows and the top door may be used for ventilation.
