Electric apparatus comprises a generator A arranged to provide two sources of electricity, one having a variable voltage output for supplying a load 6 over a rectifier 5 and the other having a constant voltage output for supplying a load 13 by way of a voltage regulator, a device 16 being provided between the two supply circuits to allow an interchange of power between the circuits. As described, the generator A is the generator of a road vehicle, the load 6 being a battery which is charged from the windings 1-4 of the variable voltage section, a manometric device 7 being operative when the battery nears full charge to disconnect windings 1-3 so that the winding 4 only continues the charge. The load 13 comprises the lighting and other apparatus of the vehicle and is fed from the section 11 of the generator over a voltage regulating device 12, the interconnecting device being a relay device, a single half-wave rectifying device, two rectifying devices connected in reverse parallel or a Zener controlled transistor so that the power interchange can be from the terminal 15 to the terminal 14 only or vice versa or the interchange can be either way according to which terminal has the higher potential.
