[Also in Division G2] A method for the production of jewellery, a button or other decorative article consists in applying interference layers to a light permeable decorative base consisting of glass or a synthetic material and having a surface scattering diffused light, the interference layers being applied to the surface scattering diffused light. The plano-convex body K has a light scattering surface produced by etching or sand blasting or by using opal glass and the interference layers L, H, L which may comprise layers of non- metallic high and low refractive index, are applied to the base or convex surface of the body. A layer B of opaque material or with a mirrored surface may be applied to the base layer L or between the convex surface and the interference layers. Two bodies K each with interference layers may be combined by cementing the layers together. The interference layers may be applied to the light scattering surface of a plate and a transparent hemispherical body cemented to the interference layers. An opaque layer B or mirrored layer may be applied between the plate and interference layers.
