Abstract
953,934. Feed water supply systems for steam boilers. DRYSDALE & CO. Ltd. Feb. 22, 1963 [Nov. 22, 1961], No. 41851/61. Heading F4A. In a feed water supply system for the boiler of a steam turbine power plant, part of the system 7 is linked by a pipe 6 to the delivery of a pump 3 the suction of which is connected by a pipe 4 to a surge tank 1. The zero flow pressure of the pump 3 is approximately equal to the pressure difference between the static head of water in the surge tank 1 and the pressure in the adjacent part of the feed circuit 7. In operation, the pump works continuously in the direction urging water from the surge tank 1 to the feed circuit 7, but should a surge due to load variation cause an increased pressure in the circuit 7, the water flows against the action of the pump from the circuit 7 to the tank 1.
