Abstract

953,783. Printing-surfaces. CARL ALLERS ETABLISSEMENT A.S. Feb. 6, 1963, [Feb, 9, 1962], No. 5147/62. Heading B6C. A printing cylinder 1 is provided with fluid operable plate clamping components 5 and 7 which are adapted to act independently on each end 14 of a flexible printing plate 13 to secure and tension it about the periphery of the cylinder. The components 5 and 7 are located in a slot in the cylinder defined by bars 2, 3 and 4 and two inflatable bags 8a and 8b are also located in the slot, one between the bar 4 and the component 7 and the other between the bar 2 and the component 5. The bags are adapted to be inflated independently by a gas or liquid and cause the components 5 and 7 to rock about their lugs 25 and 26 so that the outer ends of these components clamp the ends 14 of the plate against the upstanding portion 32 of a longitudinally extending clamping member 21.
