Abstract

1292312 Mounting printing plates E BENET 10 Sept 1970 [12 Sept 1969] 45092/69 Heading B6C A plate cylinder has a gap with three sets of plate clamping means to accommodate two different plate lengths, the longer plate length needing an extension piece within the gap to support the extra length on the cylinder. As shown in the drawing, the shorter plate length is fixed between plate clamping means mounted on pins 22 and plate clamping means on pins 35 whilst the longer plate is secured between a second set of pins 22 and the pins 35. The pin sets 22 are mounted for axial and rotative movement relative to the cylinder for axial registration and plate tensioning purposes. The pins 35 are mounted for axial movement. A segment 16 is fixed within the gap when the longer plate is used, such segment providing an extension of the cylindrical surface of the cylinder. The wheel device 30 for rotating the pin sets 22 is detachably movable between the sets as required.
