Abstract

Non-crosslinked organopolysiloxanes are stabilized (against depolymerization at elevated temperatures) by mixing with a powdered amphoteric hydroxide of Zn, Fe, Al or Be, preferably in amount of from 1 to 5% by weight of the siloxane. In examples, dimethylpolysiloxane is stabilized by milling with powdered (1) Al(OH)3, (2) Zn(OH)2, and (3, 4) AlO(OH). Methylvinyl-, diphenyl- and methylphenyl-siloxanes are also specified.
