Abstract

953,345. Ventilators. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT, and M. SUISSE. July 5, 1960 [July 8, 1959], No. 23533/60. Heading F4V. In a ventilator for a vehicle, particularly a motor car, the bottom wall 5 of the inlet duct is pivoted at 6 at its downstream edge and can be adjusted as by a cam 14 or a screw-and-nut device to occlude partially or wholly the inlet of the duct. It is returned to open position by a spring. The front end of the duct opens into a box 8 supplied with air through slits 3 at the rear of the bonnet and having a drain 15 for rain-water. When closed, the front end of the bottom wall 5 seals against a gasket 5<SP>2</SP> on the opposite wall. An air deflector 12 is provided for demisting the windscreen. The pivot 6 may be displaced at right-angles to the length of the duct to vary the size of the outlet 4.
