Abstract
952,036. Regenerator stoves. D. PETIT. March 22, 1962, No. 11107/62. Heading F4K. A Cowper type stove comprises a cylindrical steel shell 4 lined with a mantle 3 of insulating bricks and containing a checkerwork of refractory bricks 1 vaulted over by a part-spherical refractory dome 9, e.g. of silica brick resting on a thermally insulating support ring 7 formed with an outlet 16 for a preheated gas blast and a mouth 13 of a combustion chamber which is mounted outside the ring and has a burner 18 at its end remote from the ring. As shown in Fig. 3 the support ring is formed with two mouths 13, manhole covers 21 and an inspection opening 22. The two combustion chambers 17 are arranged on opposite sides of ring 7 and their axes extend tangentially to an imaginary circle concentric with the ring. The mouth 13 of each combustion chamber is shaped to deflect combusted gases upwardly towards dome 9. Dome 9 is imperforate and rests freely upon support-ring 7.
