Abstract

951,970. Baths for invalids. R. B. FIELDING. Aug. 30, 1962 [Sept. 4, 1961; Feb. 2, 1962], Nos. 31764/61 and 4172/62. Heading A4N. In order to assist a bather into or out of a bath, the bath is first partially filled, tilted to a vertical position so that the bather can stand within it and lean against the bottom and finally it is returned to the horizontal position with the bather lying flat. During tilting, by hydraulic rams 17, the water runs through a perforated end wall into a container 23 having a perforated non-slip top 26. The water runs back into the bath when this is lowered.. When the bath is in the tilted position the water from a shower rose, which can be arranged at the upper end of the bath is collected in the container 23. The bath may be constructed of fibre glass reinforced plastic and has a flexible waste outlet pipe (Fig. 4, not shown). The hydraulic rams may be replaced by a winch or a motor driven toothed quadrant. These arrangements are described in more detail and illustrated in the first Provisional Specification.
