Abstract

951,386. Rectifying. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Jan. 18, 1963 [Feb. 15, 1962], No. 5895/62. Heading H2F. A bridge rectifying circuit includes two additional rectifying elements 5A, SB connected as additional arms to the bridge and fed from the star point of the transformer winding or, in the single phase case, from its mid-point. The additional elements may comprise series or parallel arrangements. The effect of the additional elements is to permit the bridge to start even if the control circuits for the main elements provide only one pulse per valve per cycle. Also a smaller output inductance suffices to maintain the current, and the firing angle-output voltage characteristic is made more linear (Figs 2-5, not shown).
