[Also in Division G2] The gauging apparatus of the parent Specification is modified in that a lens L 1 L 2 is placed in the light path to each concave mirror M 1 , M 2 so as to form virtual concave mirrors M 1 <SP>1</SP>, M 2 <SP>1</SP> which are of equal radius and located with the centre of curvature C 1 <SP>1</SP>, C 2 <SP>1</SP> of each virtual mirror on the reflecting surface of the outer virtual mirror. To avoid chromatic aberration, each lens L 1 , L 2 may be replaced by weak but deeply curved meniscus having a small mirror onthe surface facing the concave mirror M 1 , M 2 .
