The flexible canvas or like woven diaphragm of the parent Specification is replaced by a diaphragm of non-woven material, e.g. of porous synthetic plastic such as a porous polythene or vinyl chloride copolymer, a suitable material being that sold under the Registered Trade Mark "Vyon." Thus, in the embodiment shown, a shoot 2 is provided with a porous plastic (or metal) diaphragm 5 supported from base 4 at a maximum distance of “ inch by spacer rod 7, air being introduced at 9 to fluidize the powder in the shoot to cause it to flow down the shoot.
