Abstract

1,254,936. Gas-scrubber. A. M. KARKOWSKI. 5 Feb., 1969 [8 Nov., 1968], No. 6285/69. Heading B1R. A venturi-scrubber has a throat 2 of rectangular cross-section and of uniform crosssectional area throughout its length, the crosssectional area being variable by movement of a wall portion 3 towards or away from the opposed wall portion. The movement of the movable wall portion may be effected manually (as shown) or automatically in response to varying amounts of gas passing through the scrubber. In modifications two opposed wallportions may be movable or the gas stream may pass through a plurality of throat portions in parallel, each throat portion having a movable wall portion and all the wall portions being moved by a common control member.
