950,016. Testing machines. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG A. G. Sept. 22, 1961 [Oct. 14, 1960], No. 33985/61. Heading G1S. A materials testing machine for alternating loads comprises a cylinder 61 containing a piston 62 connected to a clamped workpiece 60. Pressure fluid is supplied to both cylinder spaces 63, 64 by an oil pressure pump 65 of which the direction of delivery is reversible. The pump supplies fluid to one space, say 63, until the force due to the pressure in space 63 and duct 58 is sufficient to operate a pressure responsive device 67 and thus close a switch 68 which through relay 69 reverses the direction of motor 65. Fluid is then pumped into space 64 until a corresponding switch 71 reverses motor 65.
