Abstract

949,964. Hot water supply systems. A. H. V. HILLIER. Jan. 6, 1961 [Jan. 6, 1960], No. 474/60. Heading F4A. An arrangement of a cold water cistern 1 feeding an adjacent hot water cistern 2, similar to the arrangements described in Specifications 793,969 and 745,207, has a third adjacent cistern 7 for a cold water supply through a pipe 8 to a water closet cistern and the cold taps of baths and a lavatory basin. The ball-float valves 5, 9 of the cold cisterns 1, 7 are connected to a common supply main but the cistern 1 supplies only the hot cistern 2 through a valve-controlled pipe 3, 4 and, if it is fitted, an annular calorifier 12 through a pipe 13. The water in the cistern 2 passes to a boiler to be heated and returned, for draw-off through an outlet pipe 2a, or, as shown, the calorifier 12 is connected to the boiler by an inlet 14 and an outlet 15 so that the water in the cistern 2 is heated indirectly. An expansion pipe 16, 6 from the heater 12 passes to the cold cistern 1 as does an expansion pipe 17 from the hot cistern 2. An expansion pipe 10 connects the cold cisterns 1, 7 and the cistern 7 has an overflow outlet 11. There may be an expansion tank in the cold cistern 1 as in Specification 949,963.
