In an arrangement of a cold water cistern 1 and a hot water cistern 2, in which water from a boiler passes by inlet 9 and outlet 10 through an annular body 3 to heat the hot cistern 2, there is an expansion tank 4 in the cold cistern 1 into which tank opens an expansion pipe 7, 8 from the heater 3 and which is supplied with water from the cistern 1 by a ball float valve 10b and feeds water to the heater 3 by way of a pipe 5, 6. The cistern 1 feeds the cistern 2 through a pipe 14 and elbow 15 and an expansion pipe 16 interconnects the cistern 2 and the expansion tank 4. The hot cistern 2 has a draw-off pipe 21 extending to an outlet connection 20 and there is a boss 19 for the fitting of an electric immersion heater. An overflow 17 for the cold cistern 1 and expansion tank 4 has an elbow branch into the top of the tank 4. The cold cistern 1 may be connected to domestic fittings or there may be a second cold cistern 22, as described in Specification 949,964, adjacent the first cistern 1 (and with its own ball float valve connection 23 to the main supply and an overflow connection 24 from the first cistern 1), for supplying a water closet cistern and bath and lavatory basin taps.
