Abstract

949,089. Motor vehicles. A. P. PEDRICK. July 7, 1961, No. 24673/61. Headings B7D and B7H. The load-carrying or passenger compartment of a vehicle and its engine are separately supported from the road way. The body B 1 incorporating the passenger compartment, is supported upon a pair of support members K comprising spherical road wheels and an air cushion support, Fig. 8A, and corresponding to those described in Specification 925,268, and is connected by a pair of pins Q which allow freedom of vertical movement to a frame member comprising a frame D which is supported at the rear end upon one or a pair of driving wheels F and at the fore end by a wheel G supported for steering movement upon a vertical column C which includes a shock absorber, the frame D carrying an engine A at its rear end. The engine also drives an air compressor which supplies air to a set of storage cylinders R from which air for the suspension members K is supplied. The engine may be mounted upon a frame which is readily detachable from the main frame.
