Abstract

1,048,821. Motor vehicles; vehicle bodies. P. BROWN and A. T. L. MACKENZIE. April 22, 1963 [Jan. 22, 1962], No. 2216/62. Headings B7B and B7H. A motor vehicle comprises a frame 1, at least two castor wheels 4 and a unit 9 having a pair of steerage wheels 3 driven by an engine 5 the unit 9 being rotatable about a vertical axis relative to the frame 1. Springs or shock absorbers may be associated with the wheels 3, 4. The vehicle is normally steered by differential rotation of the steerage wheels 3 under the control of steering wheel 10. The degree of rotation of unit 9 is normally limited by latches which are releasable to permit further rotation of the unit for parking. A driver's seat 11 is arranged in front of the casing for engine 5 and passenger seats are arranged on each side of the vehicle. Arch like members 15 mounted on frame 1 support the bodywork which includes a door 19, windows 12, 16, 17 and a roof 18 which may be detachable or hinged.
