Abstract

685,025. Motor vehicles. DAIMLER-BENZ AKT-GES. May 16, 1951 [March 11, 1949], No. 11497/51. Class 79 (iii) A four-wheeled motor vehicle has the fuel tank and exhaust silencer disposed together in the space under the rear seat or seats of the vehicle. As shown the invention is applied to a motor vehicle having a front wheel drive, the rear axle f carrying wheels e and having thrust links g pivoted at h to frame members c, helical springs and shock absorbers being interposed between the members c and the links g. The fuel tank l and exhaust silencer m are disposed between the axle f and a cross frame member b and below the rear seat or seats of the vehicle. The fuel tank l is arranged on the opposite side of the vehicle to the driver's seat so that its fuel contents partially balance the driver's weight. The rear ends of the members c are interconnected by a plate dforming the floor of a luggage space, a spare wheel o being arranged upright toward one side thereof.
