Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of formula: <FORM:0948999/C2/1> where n is 0 or 1, R1 is C1-5 alkyl and R2 is a C6-10 aromatic hydrocarbon radical of the benzene series. They may be prepared by reacting a compound A-OH with an alkyl-phosphonohalidothioate of formula: <FORM:0948999/C2/2> where Z is Cl or Br, and one of the groups A and B is R2 and the other a radical of structure: <FORM:0948999/C2/3> in the presence of an acid acceptor. The products are insecticides (see Division A5).ALSO:Insecticidal compositions comprise phosphonothioate esters of formula <FORM:0948999/A5-A6/1> where n is 0 or 1, R1 is C1-5 alkyl and R2 is a C6-10 aromatic hydrocarbon radical of the benzene series [for preparation see Division C2]. They may be used alone or in soluions, suspensions, emulsions, aerosols, pellets, granules, dusts, powders or with semi-solid carriers e.g. ointments. Other pesticides may be present e.g. nematocides, bactericides and herbicides. Specific carriers mentioned are petrolatum and soap.
