Abstract
948,797. Stays. ED. SCHARWACHTER. June 10, 1961, No. 21059/61. Heading E2F. A stay bar 8 comprises at least two parts 9, 10 connected together and each formed with an integral projection 13, 14, the projections together constituting a relatively rigid detent which co-operates with a spring-loaded retainer through which the stay bar slides. The retainer preferably comprises two opposed braking bodies 35 of brass or a polyamide backed by rubber spring-blocks 38<SP>1</SP> which engage in prismatic recesses 39 in the bodies 35. The space 27 between the projections may be filled with plastic material, and the outer surfaces of the projections may also be clad with plastic. More than one detent may be formed in the bar, and the width of the bar may increase in the region of the or each detent. The bar may be rigidly secured to a door or the like, or may be pivotally mounted by means of a plastic bush 23 which also serves to hold the parts of the bar together.
