Abstract

Bituminated sand is formed by adding to a bitumen emulsion in a container sand mixed with sufficient water to fill the voids, i.e. with a sand-to-water weight ratio of 2:1. Preferably a rapid-setting emulsion containing a cationic emulsifying agent is employed and the emulsion constitutes 5-10% by weight of the final product.
