Abstract

947,930. Gearing. ARNOLD & STOLZENBERG G.m.b.H. Sept. 8, 1960 [Sept. 11, 1959; Aug. 22, 1960], No. 30946/60. Heading F2Q. An intermittent transmission mechanism includes a sun wheel r o , a planetary member r rotatable about the sun wheel, an input drive to the planetary member, an endless belt or chain e wrapped around the sun wheel and planetary member, and means for producing an output from the relative motions between the sun wheel and a member attached to the chain or belt. In Fig. 2 the planetary member r is driven by a belt driven arm a and as the member rotates about the stationary sun wheel r o a pin B is intermittently moved around the wheel r o in steps, the output of the motion being transferred by links b and e to a shaft A o . Variations in the motion of the pin B are possible by altering the angle of wrap of the belt or chain e on the sun wheel by providing additional wheels or guides on the arm a, by altering the position of the pin B radially of the belt or chain, by altering the lengths of the links b and c, or by offsetting the shaft A o from the sun wheel axis. To the end of link b may be attached a horizontal slide whose motion is intermittent as above. Furthermore, the pin B may move in a fixed or rotatable radial or curved slide, the sun wheel may be fixed, and the planet wheel may be replaced by a fixed guide.
