Abstract
947,289. Raising sunken objects. K. A. HANSSON. Nov. 16, 1962 [Nov. 17, 1961], No. 43524/62. Heading B7S. [Also in Division F2] Sunken objects are salvaged by causing a float 11 to pull up a thin rope 9 to the surface of the water, the thin rope being connected to the object, and an assistant in a boat 15 slips a ring 13 fastened to one end of a strong rope 12 over the float and allows it to slide down the thin rope and over a barbed eye 3 disposed between the thin rope and the sunken object (to which the barbed eye is attached by a strong rope 1), whereupon by pulling the rope 12 the assistant engages the ring beneath the barb and pulls up the sunken object. In the case of a submerged vessel (Fig. 3), the float 11 is releasably fastened to the hull 11 and the rope 9 is wound on a roller 17 on the float and attached to the eye 16 which has a barb 4, 7, 5. The barbed eye is secured by a chain 14 to the vessel at 15.
