Abstract

947,129. Handles for containers. METAL CONTAINERS Ltd. June 27, 1962 [June 3, 1961], No. 24651/61. Heading B8D. A non-metal container 11 has a handle 12 pivoted thereto by means of a bearing member 13 having a flat base abutting the outer surface of the container and secured thereto by means of a strap 14 which covers the base and is secured to the container body. A container having two diametrically opposed handles has two bearing members each having two flat portions 13a, 13b joined by a U-shaped portion 13c which passes through a slot 15 in the strap and receives the bent extremities of the handle. The lower edge 13d of the bearing member is bent outwards to prevent the member from sliding upwards when the container is lifted. The strap may be constituted by a reinforcing ring for the upper rim of the container. The strap may be glued to the container.
