Abstract

1356378 Portable containers W H ROPER R E ROPER and C R ROPER 25 April 1973 [17 May 1972] 19538/73 Heading B8D The top plan configuration of a moulded plastics container 10, is in the form of a square having outwardly covered sides 36 with bail handle attachments 40 projecting from a pair of diagonally opposed comers but confined within an imaginary square enclosing the container top and touching the curved sides. The arrangement facilitates close packing of a group of such containers side by side. A metal wire bail handle 42, which engages the attachments, is shaped to rest against the container side walls, which taper downwardly to define a container body having a constant cross-sectional shape of decreasing cross-sectional area, Figs. 2, 5 and 6 (not shown). The container bottom has ribreinforced peripheral flange 18 and a circular central flange 22. The container includes a removable plastics lid having an inverted U- shaped rim embracing the container body rim, the outer leg of the channel having a peripheral hooked portion 32 engaging a body rim flange 24. The lid may be prised off by inserting a tool between the hooked portion and peripherallyspaced body flanges 26 located beneath the rim flange.
