Abstract

946,937. Universal joints. J. S. & F. FOLKARD Ltd. Oct. 17, 1961 [Oct. 18, 1960], No. 35758/60. Heading F2U. A universal joint, for shafts of remotely controlled bench fittings such as valves, comprises two forked members 1 and an intermediate member 3, all of hardenable high-tensile resilient plastic, snapped together in retained pivotal engagement. The forks 1 may, as shown, have internal ribs 5, engaging grooves 4 in the spherical intermediate member 3, or in Fig. 2 (not shown) have trunnion pins snapping into holes in the intermediate member, such holes having lead-in grooves. In Fig. 4 (not shown) these trunnion pins have enlarged heads which snap through holes in a cube-shaped hollow intermediate member and subsequently expand to prevent withdrawal.
