Abstract

946,814. Firing rim-fire cartridges. ANSTALT FUR MONTAGE-TECHNIK. Sept. 4, 1961 [Sept. 7, 1960], No. 31645/61. Heading F3C. A rim-fire cartridge is detonated by causing deformation of that annular front surface of the base rim which faces the cartridge case opening and which bears against a projection or projections provided on an annular surface of the cartridge housing. In one form, an abutment 17, Fig. 2, engages the head of a cartridge located in a recess 12 in the end face 6 of the cartridge housing 1, the end face 6 being formed with one or more diametric grooves 9 so as to provide lands 11, Fig. 3, acting as projections or striker pins and engaging the annular under surface of the base rim of the cartridge for detonation purposes. Eight such projections or projections of other form may be provided, Figs. 4, 5 and 6 (not shown).
