Abstract
946,803. Servicing reactors. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. May 8,1962 [May 24, 1961], No. 18732/61. Drawings to Specification. Heading G6C. Prior to charging a pressurized gas-cooled reactor the charging operation of fresh fuel elements is rehearsed outside the reactor vessel so as to make reasonably certain of the success of the charging operation proper when the charge machine is coupled to the reactor vessel. According to the invention the rehearsal facilities comprise an auxiliary pressure vessel mounted outside the reactor pressure vessel and housing a dummy charge face and dummy fuel channel, and the auxiliary pressure vessel being adapted to be connected to the charge machine, wherein the auxiliary pressure vessel is connected in a branch circuit from a main hot gas flow circuit of the reactor whereby the temperature and pressure conditions within the auxiliary pressure vessel substantially correspond to the conditions within the reactor. The rehearsal facilities are described with reference to a drawing (not shown) and to the charge machine disclosed in Specification 911,863.
