An injection moulding machine comprises an injection cylinder 6 with a nozzle 5, mould parts enclosed in a carrier of hinged parts 1, 2 and 7, and a piston 14 arranged to exert a closing pressure on the mould parts during injection to prevent flash occurring. The piston 14 is in a cylinder 15 which is supplied with hydraulic fluid under the control of an auxiliary piston 16 connected to a rod 18. The piston 16 is actuated by a spring loaded plunger 20 which is attached to the injection cylinder 6 and adapted to engage the rod 18 just before the nozzle 5 contacts the mould carriers. There may be a plurality of mould carriers mounted on a rotating table and in this case the rod 18 will have an extension which serves to locate the mould carrier accurately opposite the injection unit.
