Abstract

945,792. Barrel locks. JOSIAH PARKES & SONS Ltd. March 3, 1961 [March 3, 1960], No. 7502/60. Heading E2A. A pin tumbler mechanism for a revolving barrel lock in which a series of spring biased rollers 15 are displaced by a series of pins 14 is characterized in that at least one roller has associated with it one or more pins having laterally displaced surface portions 21, 22 which present surfaces at different levels to a keyway capable of accepting two separate keys 24, 25. The pins are secured against rotation by plate 19 engaging a flat 17 on the pin. In a modification (Fig. 10) the pins are formed as flat plates which slide in slots 55 transverse to a slot for the key 61. In a further embodiment (Fig. 16) the laterally displaced surfaces are formed by two cylindrical pins 77 of different lengths and each having a diameter less than one half of the diameter of the roller 79. In another modification two D-shaped pins are used, separated by a diaphragm. Alternative forms of keyways and keys are shown in Figs. 6, 7 and 8.
