Abstract

The invention comprises substituted hydrazines of the general formula: R2-X1-CH2-CHR1-NH-NH2 wherein R1 represents a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl radical, X1 an oxygen or a sulphur atom or the group NH and R2 a phenyl radical substituted by hydroxyl, lower alkyl, lower alkenyl, lower alkoxy, lower alkylene dioxy groups or halogen atoms or a naphthyl group or (when either R1 is a lower alkyl group or X1 is a sulphur atom or the group NH) an unsubstituted phenyl radical, together with their acid addition salts and the preparation thereof by reacting hydrazine with a compound R2-X1-CH2CHR1-Y where Y is a halogen atom of atomic weight greater than 20 or a group -OSO2R5 where R5 is an alkyl or aryl radical. The term "lower" indicates 1-4 carbon atoms in the groups so qualified.
